Minor League Round Up - 7/26

Indianapolis Indians: 53-51

Indianapolis beat Charlotte tonight by a score of 8-5. Lefty Brian Burres got the start and got the win going 7 innings allowing 3 runs to score while striking out 5 and walking 3.

Brandon Moss continued his tear going 3-3 with a double getting rbi number 63. Alex Presley went 2-5 with a solo home run which was his 4th in Indy and 10th total this year. Aki Iwamura went 2-5, Jonathan Van Every went 2-3 with two rbi's and Brian Friday went 2-4 with two doubles.

Per Scott McCauley there was a fresh face in the clubhouse tonight but no official word on who it was. Here's to hoping it's Rudy Owens.

Altoona Curve: 59-42

Altoona beat Erie tonight by a score of 11-2. The game was dead locked at two a piece before Altoona mustered up 9 runs in the 8th inning alone. Jeff Locke got the start and was very impressive going 6 innings allowing 2 earned runs while striking out 9 Sea Wolves without allowing a walk. Sadly Locke was not able to pick up the win. Ramon Aguero got the win going 2 innings while Mike Colla shut it down in the 9th.

Chase d'Arnaud went 1-4 with 2 runs scored. Miles Durham went 1-5 with a home run and 4 rbi's and Yung Chi Chen went 2-4 with his first home run of the season and 3 rbi's. Matt Hague was 1-5 with an rbi. Kris Watts, Anthony Norman and Brandon Jones also collected two hits a piece.

Bradenton Marauders: 55-44

Off Today

West Virginia Power: 43-57

West Virginia split a double header with Hagerstown. Game one featured Brett Lorin on the mound going 4 innings allowing 2 earned runs. The win was picked up by Eliecer Navarro who closed out the final 3 innings allowing 2 earned runs as well. Game two was a forgettable one for Quinton Miller who only lasted 2/3 of an inning allowing 7 runs, all earned while striking out one. Mike Williams was solid in relief going 4.1 innings allowing 2 earned runs striking out one. Maurice Bankston finished off the game pitching one inning and walking one.

In Game one, Jarek Cunningham went 1-4 with a run scored. Jose Hernandez hit his 9th home run of the season and Rogelios Noris hit his 13th home run of the season. In game two West Virginia was held to 5 total hits with no player having a multi hit game. David Rubinstein, Rogelios Noris, Jesus Brito, Jairo Marquez and Elevys Gonzalez collected those 5 hits with one a piece.

State College Spikes: 20-18

State College finished the sweep of Mahoning Valley with a 6-4 win. Starter Zack Von Rosenberg pitched 4 solid innings without allowing a run while striking out 3. Zack Dodson in relief of ZVR pitched 2.2 innings picking up the win allowing one unearned run striking out one but allowing 4 free passes.

3rd round pick Mel Rojas went 2-5 with a double and an rbi. Matt Curry, after an 0-4 game last night responded with a 3-3 outing scoring a run along the way. Cole White in his 11th game back from returning from the military went 3-3 with 3 rbi and a run scored. Gift Ngoepe went 0-3 with 2 walks. Gift is hitting .351 in his last 10 and has brought his season average up to .280 with a blistering .416 obp.
