Is this Christmas in July?

The Young Bucs were at it again today! The Pirates beat the Pirates 15-3 behind Pedro Alvarez's two more home runs and Delwyn Young's career high 5 RBI night. Pedro Alvarez seems to be a man on a mission and must I say Harold Reynolds needs to do a little more research before he interviews a player.

"So Pedro, What's with all this power? You're a line drive guy, only supposed to be hitting 10 home runs."

Yes. That was Harold Reynolds thinking Pedro only has 10 home run potential... Words can't even describe that statement.

Other than Pedro and Delwyn's huge nights the offense was yet again led by lead off man Jose Tabata going 2-4 with 3 runs. Neil Walker continues his tear as well going 2-5 with 2 RBI's. In Tabata's last 5 games he's hitting 8-23 which is a solid .348 clip. Walker has been even more impressive going 14-24 which is .583! The other runs were driven in by Lastings Milledge, Ronny Cedeno and... wait for it... ANDY LAROCHE! Ronny Cedeno sporting his new batting stance is hitting .384 over his last 5 games jumping his season average to almost .250.

Unlike yesterday the starting pitching was quite solid. Zack Duke in his second start off the DL went 6 strong innings allowing 3 runs (2 earned) striking out 3 and walking 2. It was a great site to see Zack back in control, hopefully he can continue this and provide solid starts for the rest of the season. Brendan Donnelly pitched a perfect 7th inning striking out 2 while Sean Gallagher finished off the game allowing one hit while striking out one.

It was definitely a great game overall, a couple of errors but nothing that really hurt the Bucs. Ryan Doumit left the game early after a collision that left him light headed. Doumit was taken to the hospital but there hasn't been any news of his condition yet. The Pirates move to 34-60 (23-22 at home) and 4-2 post all-star break.
